Leadership Moving

New Hampshire Forward

Martha has lived in and participated in the Portsmouth community for 33 years, serving on numerous non-profit boards and using her expertise to protect and promote the historic character of the city. She is married to Dr. Geoffrey Clark and the proud mother of Caleb (age 32), Nathaniel (age 25), and Anna (age 23). Prior to serving in the New Hampshire State Legislature, she worked in historic preservation as an educator and consultant.

Experienced - Martha served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives for 12 years, and the state Senate for 4 years. She has also taken part in numerous community projects throughout the Seacoast. She is particularly proud of her work in having Route 1A declared a scenic and cultural byway.

Effective - During her first 4 years in the Senate, Martha has been a leader in promoting health care reform, eliminating donor communities, and fighting to find an acceptable solution to providing educational adequacy and opportunity with a statewide property tax. Martha joined forces with Governor Lynch to eliminate a $300 million budget deficit with no new taxes. Working with both Democrats and Republicans, Martha was responsible for 40 bills that successfully became a part of New Hampshire law during the past biennium.

Ethical - Martha doesn't just believe in ethics and honesty in state government, she has created and strongly supported bills to toughen the laws that hold elected officials accountable.

"I'm running for reelection because I really care about my community. We all want the same things, quality education for our kids, healthy families, and a strong economy. I'm proud of my leadership in the Senate on these issues, and if I’m reelected, I’ll continue to fight for what’s best for the Seacoast and New Hampshire." - Sen. Martha Fuller Clark
